Johna (she/they) is a cartoonist and illustrator.

Her cartoons have appeared in The New Yorker, MUTHA Magazine, and The Gutter. She is an active member of SCBWI, her picture book dummy The Mess in Lucy’s Room was selected as a PB Rising Stars Runner Up, and she is currently developing City Critters, an early graphic novel series about three small animals navigating big-city adventures.

Johna holds an MFA from the Center for Cartoon Studies and a BA in Architecture from Yale University. Before turning to children’s publishing full-time, she worked as a User Experience Designer at companies including Instagram and The New York Times.

She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, young son, and their dog.
